Madison Gas & Electric (MG&E) | Business Community Manager

The Business Community Manager will provide leadership, technical knowledge, and project management for culturally relevant communications and activities that help businesses manage their energy use and costs, understand the community and environmental impacts of Madison Gas and Electric Company's (MGE) operations and projects, and connect MGE's programs and services with a focus on businesses of color. This position ensures that MGE is positioned as "Your Community Energy Company" and that its programs will garner participation across our diverse customer base.


  • Identifies, builds, and maintains relationships with businesses of color with a strong focus on small business, nonprofits, religious organizations, and minority-owned businesses.
  • Facilitates workshops and other educational opportunities for customers and businesses around energy efficiency, sustainability business resources, payment options, and other relevant MGE products and services.
  • Engages in cross-departmental collaboration to promote MGE products and services (e.g., Customer Center, RCS, CEES, and Supply Chain/Procurement).
  • Connects with the BIPOC business community by leveraging existing MGE partnerships with business associations and their members.
  • Promotes equity opportunities for disadvantaged business enterprises with the goal of social and economic development.
  • Represents MGE at community events, business meetings, and other relevant events.


  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or other relevant field.
  • Minimum of 4 years' applicable professional work experience.
  • Experience navigating social and institutional barriers faced by communities of color.
  • Proven track record in driving projects from inception to implementation.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in the community.

  • Demonstrates ability to build and maintain relationships across communities of color.
  • Able to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Team player who is able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of energy-related issues and areas of opportunity facing communities of color.
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills who is able to communicate technical concepts to internal and external customers.
  • Must maintain a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
